Originally from Tzfat, Israel, Rabbi Israel grew up in a lively family of 12 siblings. He previously served as a counselor in both day camp and overnight camp programs, giving him firsthand experience helping campers thrive in a camp setting.

An avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking and swimming, Rabbi Israel brings warmth, enthusiasm, and a positive spirit to Camp Canyon. Together with his wife, Eden, and daughter, Pele, he is excited to be part of an unforgettable summer for Camp Canyon families.

KIDDIE CAMP ADVISOR

Chaya Shapiro founded Camp Canyon in 2007 (originally Gan Izzy) and has spent more than 25 years working with children in educational and leadership roles. In 2021, she founded Teva Tots, Flagstaff’s first Jewish preschool, and continues to direct the program today.

​

A passionate advocate for Jewish education, Chaya also established Flagstaff’s Hebrew School of the Arts. As a mother of ten, she brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her role and is excited to help make this summer a special one for Camp Canyon families.

I come from a big family with seven siblings, five of whom are younger than me, so being around children comes naturally! I worked as a counselor last summer and absolutely loved it. I'm so excited to help make this summer at Camp Canyon full of fun, friendship, and simcha!

Hi! I'm Campbell Blair, and I'm excited to be returning to Camp Canyon for my second summer as a Kiddie Camp Counselor.

As a Flagstaff local and Life Sciences student, I enjoy working with children and helping them feel comfortable and confident. My experience includes nannying, serving as a counselor at sports camps, and working as an assistant teacher at Teva Tots.

​

When I'm not at camp, I enjoy spending time outdoors, playing sports, and being with family and friends. I can't wait for another great summer at Camp Canyon!

Originally from Southern California, I moved to Flagstaff in 2018 to attend Northern Arizona University. I currently work as an assistant teacher at Teva Tots and love working with children.

Hi, I’m Riley! I’m a student at Northern Arizona University and a substitute teacher at Teva Tots Preschool. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, and spending time outdoors.

I’ve been working with children since I started babysitting at 13 and have always loved helping kids build confidence, explore new things, and have fun. Growing up in a big family, I spent a lot of time caring for my younger siblings, which sparked my passion for working with children.
